Zye & Milán (9/10/11)

3

About two-and-a-half years ago, I started a wedding blog, Bride & Beyond, to pour all my wedding frustrations into. See, I didn't know how to get started as a wedding planner because I was fresh out of college. But that's a whole different story.

Anyway, my first few blog posts were totally lame. I've been wanting to delete some of them for the longest time, but I’m just too lazy to do so. Well this time, laziness worked to my advantage because the bride, Zye, found me through one of the posts that I wanted to delete.

She was having a yacht wedding in 5 weeks and she needed help. Because I'm a little bit crazy, I agreed to plan a wedding from scratch in 5 short weeks.

A lot of things made the planning process less stressful than it could have been -- they were having a civil wedding, I had plenty of time to work on it, we picked good suppliers (except for one), and Zye was absolutely a breeze to work with.

Even when the most unprofessional florist in the world backed out on us less than 2 weeks away from the wedding, Zye remained calm. CAN YOU IMAGINE THAT? I would have gone ballistic! In the end, the florist backing out turned out to be a blessing, because we were saved by Justine Bumanlag of SaSo Event Styling, who did a fantastic job.

It was unfortunate that 20 minutes before the yacht was about to sail for the ceremony, it rained. Still, Zye remained calm and asked me to go with plan B, which was to have the ceremony in the function room instead. Thank goodness for Justine's work that transformed the function room into a simple nautical beach fancy.

Again, thanks to Justine for taking pictures with my camera! I just couldn't manage to take photos anymore.

Once again, The Cake Shack brings my design idea into fruition, incorporating it into their signature All For Love cake! Sadly, we don't have photos of the details because it was such a busy, busy day.

Cake details:
Rope
Starbucks logo on the anchor (because that's where the couple met)
Cuff links with an 'S' written on them (because they're expecting a baby girl whose name begins with an 'S')
Map and compass held by the bride (because she's the boss :P)
Lifesaver doubling as a letter 'O'
Sweat trickling down the groom's forehead from carrying this heavy red velvet cake!
